Founded in 1983 by the Swatch Group under Nicolas Hayek, at a time when the Swiss watch industry was in deep crisis due to the rise of Japanese electronic watches. Swatch emerged as a revolutionary idea combining simplicity, reliability, and modern design — reviving the Swiss industry through a stylish, lightweight, and affordable watch.
Swatch became known for its use of innovative materials such as colored plastic and silicone, powered by precise quartz movements housed in playful, artistic designs. Over the decades, Swatch has collaborated with world-renowned artists and designers, producing limited editions and symbolic releases — including its famous collaboration with Omega on the MoonSwatch series.
تأسست عام ١٩٨٣ على يد سواتش قروب بقيادة نيكولا حايك في وقت كانت فيه صناعة الساعات السويسرية تمرّ بأزمة حادّة بسبب انتشار الساعات الإلكترونية اليابانية. جاءت سواتش كفكرة ثورية تجمع بين البساطة والموثوقية والتصميم العصري لتعيد الحياة إلى الصناعة السويسرية من خلال ساعة أنيقة، خفيفة، ومنخفضة التكلفة.
تميّزت سواتش باستخدامها مواد مبتكرة مثل البلاستيك الملوّن والسيليكون، مع محركات كوارتز دقيقة داخل تصاميم مفعمة بالطابع الفني والمرح. تعاونت سواتش على مر العقود مع فنانين ومصممين عالميين، وقدّمت مجموعات محدودة الإصدار وأخرى رمزية مثل تعاونها مع أوميغا في سلسلة مون سواتش.
